Choquequirao Trek 4 Days / 3 Nights

Itinerary

This area has an infinity of microclimates, landscape with high snow peaks with more than 6000 msnm Passing through a high Andean plateau, until you reach an endless forest of clouds or high forest. This region was dominated by Manco Inca after the western invasion, reached several settlements with constructions of sacred places, raised previously and with a complex network of Inca road, extended to the presence of Manco Inca,Sayre Tupac , Titu Cusi Yupanqui and Tupac Amaru I. They decided to create a NEO IMPERIAL state, with the purpose of preserving all the knowledge in religion, astronomy, customs and traditions of an ancient Inca society.

Itinerary

Day 1
Cusco – Cachora – Chiquisqa

Very early in the morning we will depart northwest of the city of Cusco (3350 masl) on our transport to the town of Cachora (2850 masl). Cachora is surrounded by mountains and the majestic Padreyoq mountain(5571m.snm). This is the meeting place with the muleteers and their mules that will compromise in carrying all the camping equipment throughout this expedition. we will begin to walk with some ecological slopes we will have the presence of the enormous deity of Padreyoc in the pass of Capuliyoc (2800 msnm). From Capuliyocwe will have a spectacular presence of the Apurímac canyon and part of the Archaeological complex of Choquequirao, which as a short break we will observe our descent path that goes in the form of a serpentine by the edge of the mountain to the place of the camp that will be Chiquisqa (1930 meters above sea level). Hiking time 7 hours in a warm climate .

Day 2
Chiquisca – Playa Rosalina – Marampata – Choquequirao

We will start from very early, after tasting our breakfast we will begin to descend in approximately one hour and we will arrive at the Rosalina beach (1500 masl). From here it is the beginning of the ascent to leave the canyon, with a very warm climate until the town of Marampata ( 2850 masl), where we will have a beautiful view of the archaeological complex of Choquequirao. The phenomenon of sunset is enigmatic in Choquequirao accompanied by an Andean symbol “Condor”, which descends from the highest mountains of the Vilcabambamountain range to the archaeological complex of Choquequirao (3033 masl), where our camp will be. Hiking time 7 hours in a warm and cold weather.

Day 3
Choquequirao – San Ignacio – Carmen

At dawn very early we will enjoy a delicious breakfast under the command of the vegetation on the archaeological complex of Choquequirao, accompanied by a professional guide will be the presentation concerning the history, ruins and recent excavations found. Choquequirao currently maintains many ancestral secrets, because at the moment only 35% of the citadel is restored, knowing that this project is very important, it will be concluded and presented before the eyes of the world “La Cuna de Oro” 10 years from now with a deep knowledge of the function specifically of Choquequirao that is quite an enigma. After the visit to Choquequirao we will have to leave the main place and take our backpacks to descend by a path not as common as the one that is usually visited. That along this new route we will have impressive views, like theApurimac canyon , in its greater length, goodness in flora and fauna. With a difference between Choquequirao and San Ignacio beach of 1500m depth. And ascend to the campsite in a beautiful paradisiacal place known as Carmen orchard (2000 masl). Hiking time 5 hours. Moderate warm climate with mosquitoes.

Day 4
Carmen – Hacienda Tambo Bamba – Huanipaca

We will depart in the morning to the Huerto Carmen, which is close to the Tambabamba ranch (2,500 masl). Nowadays, it offers a lot of natural wealth in different areas of agricultural and livestock production, preserving the tradition and knowledge of our Andean ancestors. Following the tour we will be visiting communities such as Pacobamba and Huanipaca (3150 masl). From the community of Huanipaca where is the best and impressive view of the chain of glaciers ” Sacsarayoc “, located in the Vilcabamba region “The last refuge of the Incas”. Then we will undertake the return in our mobility to the city of Cusco. On the way back to Cusco, we will stop in Cconoc and relax in the hot springs that have many healing and relaxation benefits. Walking time 5 hours. Moderate warm weather.

We offer you a 5th day to enjoy more time in the archaeological complex of Choquequirao and the thermal baths of Cconoq.
