Choquequirao Trek 7 Days / 6 Nights
Choquequirao is located (3,033 meters) in the most perpetual snowy Salkantay, to the north of the valley of the Apurimac River. The conservation area covers an area of 103 hectares 814.38 and a perimeter of 247 480.38 meters, in the province of Anta department of Cusco.
Choquequirao was a ceremonial, agricultural, high strategic importance place in the Inca culture, its buildings were made for certain functions and is considered the second masterpiece of the Incas for its beautiful architecture, location and biodiversity. This expedition is highly recommended because it is not popular is ideal for those who love exploring nature, tranquility.

Itinerary
Day 1:
Cusco – Cachora – Chiquisca – Playa Rosalinda
Pick up from your hotel Cusco at 4.00am on our transport towards Cachora (three hours) where we will have breakfast then begin our trek to the pipes of the Apurimac the first 2 hours of walking will be along mountains impressive with a spectacular view of the canyon, the road is surrounded by beautiful scenery also we have the privilege of seeing the spectacular peaks of the Padreyoc and wayna Chachora descend to our camp for lunch and rest on the banks of the river.
Day 2:
Playa Rosalinda – Marampata – Choquequirao (Cradle of Gold)
Woke up at 5 am to see the beautiful sunrise, we had our breakfast and started the walk will be 5 hours strenuous uphill through a long and narrow road, surrounded by beautiful vegetation with several varieties of flora. Half of the way we will have lunch at Marampata, and then continue to Choquequirao is located 1500 meters above the Apurimac Canyon. The view of the canyon is spectacular; it is also possible to see Andean condors around the mountains, our camp is very close to the second masterpiece of Inca Choquequirao.
Day 3:
Choquequirao – Choquequirao Pass – White River – Maizal
After breakfast very early at 7am. we start our trek through the hill through the cloud forest, mountains and valleys to reach Choquequirao pass. After 5 hours walk through agricultural terraces called Pinchinoyoc means (water jumping forward – 2750m). We can spot different species of birds, variety of orchids and coca plantations will have our lunch near the Rio Blanco before crossing the river you can take a refreshing dip in the waters of the river. Then we cross walking through the river and continue with the ascent to our camp in Maizal, close to the sacred Apus of the Incas.
Day 4:
Maizal – Minas Victoria – Yanama
We woke up very early around the Corihuarachina glacier, from this place we start walking uphill through mine impressive Inca called Minas Victoria observing incredible cloud forests to reach the Andean highlands with unique vegetation and mountains multicolor we can also appreciate Inca trails originals. Our lunch will be in the open victory located 4200m.snm facing the mountain Choquetakarpo, while lunch is possible to see the flight of the condors, depending on the weather finally descend to our camp in Yamana, a small isolated settlement at the bottom of the valley (3800m) I overnight.
Day 5:
Yamana – Cordillera – Totora
We woke early and walked uphill to the highest point of the ridge trip 4850 masl, again the view will be amazing from here we will be surrounded by the Andes promotion soft lead us through new landscapes – especially fields and valleys that distinguish it from other mountains. In the open we might walk in snow, crossing small wooden bridges heading towards the community of Totora, where we spend the night indescribable beauty, surrounded by nature and fresh air.
Day 6:
Totora – Cloud Forest – Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes
Continuing our walk will be 5 hours, descending 2000m to the Totora river. Sometimes you can observe wildlife like hummingbirds, woodpeckers, different species of orchids and begonias. Then we descend to the left side of the Santa Teresa river where we can see small plantations of bananas, passion fruit and coffee. On the way from the way we delight with small waterfalls and take photographic images. To the reach the beach town we will have lunch, then boarded a local bus bound for Santa Teresa destined for the thermal baths of Cocalmayo where we will relax the body and muscles, then continue until you reach the town of Aguas Calientes where we spend the night in a hotel . Last Supper celebration together with pisco sour signature drink of Peru.
Day 7:
Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Ollantaytambo – Cusco
This day is the most important of the trip because we will visit one of the 7 wonders of the world Machu Picchu, accompanied by our guide will visit the most important buildings and temples enjoying the essence and magic of this masterpiece of Inca architecture. The guide will explain the reasons why and how it was built, giving us complete information about the history, geography, astronomy Inca, then have free time to explore and filled with good energy. Finally we return to the town of Aguas Calientes to board the train to Ollantaytambo where our transport will pick us up bound for Cusco. The end of the trip.
