Itinerary
Salkantay trip to Machu Picchu, was recently named among the 25 best Treks in the world by National Geographic Adventure Travel Magazine.
Salkantay Route is one of the paths and Machu Picchu richest in terms of natural beauty because of its unique geographical position. Elevating the Salkantay mountain is 6,264 meters above sea level with climatic conditions ranging from subtropical to arctic.
Salkantay offers a range of different levels for travelers from long walks and an extensive tour, but very rewarding walks up to the traveler who wants a quiet and comfortable walk.
Itinerary
Day 1
Cusco – Mollepata – Marcocasa- Soraypampa
Pick up from your hotel and then we travel by bus about 3 hours to Mollepata where we take breakfast at a local restaurant in Mollepata, then continue the trip by private transport to Marcocasa where will begin our trek. A 3 hour hike will take us to Challacancha where we have lunch overlooking beautiful scenic snow-capped mountains (Humantay, 4120m / 13500ft and Salkantay, 6271m / 20575ft) – just the beginning! We begin our trek to Soraypamapa, our first camp (3800m / 11750ft, the highest camping colder and colder of the trip) enjoying the beauty of the landscape along the way visit the lagoon Humantay, which is 1 hour walk Soraypampa our first camp.
Day 2
Soraypampa – Chaullay – Collpapampa (salkantay)

Then a brief rest, we will continue our tour (downhill) through a dramatic cloud forest towards Huayracpunku, where we have lunch. We walk again after lunch towards the beginning of the jungle to reach our second camp, Chaullay or Colcapampa (3000m / 9800ft).
Day 3
Beach – Lucmabamba (jungle)
After breakfast, at 6:30 am, we started trekking through the high forest crossing the Lluskamayo river and a variety of small streams to reach the beach need to walk around 6 hours to reach the camp where encontaremos plantations coffee where we will learn about the process of coffee, so be picked, roasted and ground coffee as part of this hike. Day 4
Llactapata – Aguas Calientes Santa Teresa -Hidroeléctrica

Day 5
Machu Picchu – Cusco !!!!!!
Early in the morning, around 4 am, we continue walking for half an hour and up to Machu Picchu, but there is another option to take the first bus departs 5:30 to Machu Picchu (25 minutes) in order to appreciate the magnificent city as the sun is rising.
a guided tour (about 2 hours) is given by your guide and then you can explore the mysterious city by themselves. If you still have energy you can also climb Huayna Picchu (2720m / 8890ft) !!! It takes 45 minutes to reach the top.
You will meet your guide in Aguas Calientes (can be reached by bus or on foot) to have your train ticket back to Cusco or Ollantaytambo. The first train leaves at 15.55 and usually arrive in Cusco at about 20.20 or second train that departs 4:20 Ollantaytambo where someone will be waiting for you with your name guides will take you to take a bus to Cusco.
If you want to stay an extra night in Aguas Calientes you can be booked. (Please let us know if you would like to stay an extra night to the booking your trip.)
