Despite being named by National Geographic as one of 20 “Walking Dreams” wishlist World Best Walking the trail Ancascocha remains one of the less populated routes in the area. In fact, if you ask about the trail in Cusco, you may get curious looks both tourists and locals. While the Classic Inca Trail and Salkantay have become household names often booked a year in advance, Ancascocha remains almost “undisclosed”. But do not be deterred by this state less known, this is a path heavyweight in every aspect!
For this new itinerary walk 5 days, the company has combined the most spectacular aspects of Ancascocha with an unforgettable 2 day trip by the famous Inca Trail. They spend their first 3 days Ancascocha, far from the beaten track and the typical tourist paths, will be offered Indomitable views of the majestic snow-capped Andes. You will walk among ruins well preserved, you marvel of engineering feats of the ancient tribes and pass through remote communities who still live and work the way they have done for generations.
Itinerary
Day 1
Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa – Salkantaypampa – Pampa Japanese
Our mobility will pick you up and take you to Mollepata 2870M (approximately 3 hours) where we have the opportunity to buy supplies. From Mollepata we continue one hour drive to Soraypampa (3840m). We walk from the village of Soraypampa or Challacancha pastures. Chances are we have our lunch at Salkantaypampa. After several hours of trekking we arrive at our campsite. Our camp for the night is at the base of the most majestic and impressive mountains of this area as Salkantay (6264m) and Humantay (5217m). The campsite is called Pampa Japanese (Japanese plain) and is 4600m. (This is a high camping so it should be well acclimatized).
Day 2
Pampa Japanese – Inka Chiriaska – Millpo – Yahuarmaky
After breakfast, with emergency wranglers and horses we begin the long walk that crosses several high passes. First, Inca Chiriaska (4959m), from where we have views over the amazing and wonderful scenery of the area. From here you walk through an original Inca Trail to reach the Tocto (4821m), where the Inca Trail is directed towards Salkantay. We continue for another 2 hours to step Calacocha (4667m). From here you will walk another hour to step Cruz House (4600m) and then another hour Step Millpo be where we descend to our camping Millpo (4399m). If you feel we could well continue to camp in Yahuarmaky. Total walking time 8.5-9hours today.
Day 3
Millpo – Yahuarmaky – Ancascocha
Early we will hike for approximately 1 hour to step Chusqenay (4630m) and then descend within 50 minutes to step Rumi Inca and then continue up to the valley narrow Yahuarmaky, another 40 minute walk. We started to climb again, for about 1.5 hours to pass Aqocasa (4686m). This mountain is a mountain attractive reddish sandy and from the top of this step (with the help of binoculars), we will appreciate the famous Inca road to Machu Picchu. We can also see the mountains of Salkantay, Humantay, Huayanay and far down the road we see Huacaywillka (Sacred Tears). On the way we can see a small archaeological site called Inka-Raqay. From here its descent from Inka Rakay 3 hours, and then another one. 5 hours of ascent step Huayanay (4630m). Then we descend to our camp in Ancascocha, 3 hours. (Camping Laguna Ancascocha or Ancascocha 3700m). Total walking time 8-9 hours today.
Day 4
Ancasqocha – Chillca
after the breakfast go down the hill for about 5 hours to reach Chillca. From Ancascocha their 2 hour descent to Arequipapampa. We will pass through small villages with typical Andean valleys observing trees vegetation chachacoma, qewña, some orchids, begonias and bromeliads that adorn the landscape. The descent becomes easier to Camicancha (2930m) where our mobility can pick us up. (Or continue down to Chillca) took the train around 4:00 pm to Aguas Calientes where we will enjoy a celebratory dinner and spend the night in a hotel.
Day 5
Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
Early in the morning (before sunrise) to board a bus to the archeological sanctuary of Machu Picchu. (Bus included in the price) so you can see the output of the sun watchman’s hut (or Intipunku if you get up early). You will then have a guided tour of three hours of Machu Picchu with your guide. After your tour, you can explore the different enclosures for yourself or climb Huayna Picchu Mountain to portray a wonderful picture of Machu Picchu and classic. We strongly recommend walking Machu Picchu to get a feel of vegetation and also the audacity of its builders. Is a 1 hour walk back to the village of Machu Picchu or can take the bus which is not included in your ticket. We return to Cusco in the afternoon by train (leaving at 14. 30 or 6pm) and we found a driver in Ollantaytambo which will transfer directly to your hotel. will arrive in Cusco approximately 4 hours after the departure of the train Hot Water.

- Tents – 2 persons in a tent 4 people allowing convenience, and storage bags.
- Basic foam mattress. If you need comfort during the trek we can hire you an inflatable mattress (for example, Thermarest)
- Cooking and cooking equipment (attendees are for large groups)

- Meals as indicated in the itinerary (optional vegetarian food). Our professional chefs prepare meals that incorporate elements of Western diet and also traditional Peruvian delicacies. (Please contact your guide / cook during the trek if you have preference for certain types of dishes). Salads, if served, washed with boiled water.
- Horses (for equipment and personal items) including horsemen. They carry camping equipment, food and cooking utensils. We offer canvas bags in your briefing for your personal items (up to 5 kg / 12 pounds per person).

- Store dining tables and chairs and tent camp kitchen for the cook to prepare meals
