Itinerary
Day 1
Cusco / City Tour
Reception at the airport and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon we will start our tour of the city where we will visit the main archaeological and religious attractions such as the Cathedral, the colonial religious monument of extraordinary artistic value and the Palace of Qoricancha or Temple of the Sun and Convent of Santo Domingo, which highlights the impressive engineering used in its construction.also, we will visit the 4 archaeological centers adjoining the City, such as Sacsayhuamán, located 3 km from the city, an impressive fortress of colossal stones and an excellent architecture. It is famous for its formidable carved stones, some of which are 9/30 feet tall and weigh more than 350 tons. This is where the “Inti Raymi” or “Fiesta del Sol”, Qenqo, Ceremonial and ritual center, amphitheater where sacrifices were performed in honor of the Sun, Moon and Stars, is performed annually in the month of June. Puca-Pucara, old tambo or guard post along the roads of the Inca and Tambomachay, 7 km from the city of Cusco, ceremonial center of water worship, traditionally known as the place of water.
Day 2
Cusco / Sacred Valley of the Incas
Our tour to the “Sacred Valley of the Incas”, begins on the Vilcanota River, a panoramic view of the Inca citadel of Pisac and then visit the archaeological complex of Pisac, a brief stop and visit to the typical market of Pisac, where we will have the opportunity to learn about the customs of its inhabitants, then we will move to the town of Urubamba where we can enjoy a buffet lunch with different typical Peruvian dishes, traveling along the Vilcanota River, visit the archaeological complex of Ollantaytambo, whose name is due in honor of General Inca Ollanta, famous for his romance with an Inca princess, daughter of Pachacutec . It is the only city of the Inca in Peru that is still inhabited, Finally we will visit the town of Chinchero, an important archaeological site “royal treasury of the Inca Túpac Yupanqui”, and a beautiful temple of the colonial period, of beauty and unique history, likewise We will visit the interpretive market of Chincheros, a show of color and movement, which fascinates the visitor due to its diversity in handmade crafts and textiles.
Day 3
Cusco / The mountain of 7 colors
We will leave approximately 04:00 am, where we will pick you up from your hotel in the city, then make the trip in our mobility, where we will head south ( Urcos ) via paved road to Pitumarca (2:00 am), following the route We will pass through many high Andean communities until arriving at Hanchipata-Quesuno approximately 1 hour and a half, the place where our camp is where we will enjoy our breakfast, ideal to start the walk, the professional guide, will provide us, the preventive information for our tour. During the trip we will have the opportunity to see a variety of South American camelids, birds, lagoons, plateaus, streams and the impressive snow of the Ausangate . the walk lasts approximately 3 hours to Vinicunca (mountain 7 colors or rainbow), our guide will provide us with a brief explanation and additional time for your photographic scenes to remember the magical landscape. The return will be a descent about 2 and a half hours to Quesunoy, starting point of the tour, then we will have our buffet lunch and then return to the city of Cusco arriving at approximately 7:00 at night.
Day 4
Cusco / Maras Moray
Our tour will start towards northwest of the city of Cusco, passing through very typical populations of beautiful landscapes, the first point of visit will be the town of Maras, where we can appreciate the summits of the Vilcanota mountain range covered with snowy mountains; “El Chicón” and “La Verónica”, we will immediately visit the Archaeological Complex of Moray, a group of formidable terraces that overlap concentrically in a gigantic tunnel. Finally we will visit the Salineras that are constituted by some 2000, small wells with an average area of about 5 m², exploited since Inca times, colonial times and that still continue to be the economic sustenance of the locals. After our visit we will return to the city of Cusco.
Day 5
Cusco / Ollantaytambo / Aguas Calientes
Our excursion to the archaeological complex of Machu Picchu located in the sub-tropical zone of Cusco or jungle brow at an altitude of 2,350 meters above sea level starts very early (08:00 hours approx.) Transfer from the Hotel to the train station Ollantaytambo , then take a trip to the Train of Peru Rail, until you reach the town of Aguas Calientes. We will board the bus to the archaeological zone of Machu Picchu, the journey takes 1hr. And 20 min. approx. Offering an impressive view of the landscape of the Urubamba River, as well as imposing mountains that surround Machu Picchu; where it will be received, to then go to the hotel, then you will have the afternoon free and you will be able to carry out activities and visit the thermal baths.
We will spend the night in the town of Aguas Calientes.
Day 06
Machu Picchu / Ollantaytambo / Cusco
We begin very early, after breakfast, we board d and return to the train station to return to the village of Ollantaytambo where we will be waiting to take you to the city of Cusco, (show up at the station 30 min before the departure time of your train) .
In the afternoon we will start our tour through the archaeological complex of Tipón, an incredible hydraulic architecture and possessing 12 impressive terraces and ceremonial water fountain, which as a whole constitute a masterpiece of hydraulic engineering, the ruins of Pikillacta, a pre-Inca city considered, as the first Wari culture. It has a very harmonious geometric design , later we will observe an extraordinary panoramic and peaceful view of the Huacarpay Lagoon and its great biodiversity that it contains.
Finally we will visit the temple of Andahuaylillas, considered as the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas”, a quiet and beautiful place, possessing valuable works of art, inside, prevailing the paintings of the Cusco school famous for its mestizo Baroque style and its Sculptural monument, later we will return to the city of Cusco, during the afternoon.
Day 7
Cusco / Lima
Traslado from the hotel to the airport to board the return flight to Lima.
