The archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo is located on a high plateau of the Sacred Valley and offers a spectacular view of the mountains and the river and villages below. This hike gives you the opportunity to walk through the mountains and gorges Incas before reaching this very impressive archaeological site that is so remote few travelers take the time to visit.

Itinerary

Day 1
Cusco Huchuy – Quenqo – Siwa – Lamay – Olly – Aguas Calientes

We pick you up from your hotel at 06:00 and will depart from Cusco, taking a road through the mountains to the village of Patabamba which is 3,870 meters or 12,700 feet and is where we start the walk. First, we walk through the village, passing local houses and the church of the village. Then we arrive at a creek and cross a bridge. We climb by an average of an hour until we have a beautiful view of the valley and mountains. We rest for a while and then continue walking down a path until you reach the town of Sihuas. After passing through this town we will go up by an average of one hour step which is 4,070 meters or 13,350 feet. Here we’ll eat our snack, and then we will go down for about 20 minutes to reach a well preserved Inca Trail. We follow this road for a small broken with a running stream. Here we begin to see Inca architecture and Inca terraces and a door. We continue along the broken until a viewpoint of the Sacred Valley. We walk around the mountain and see the impressive first Huchuy Qosqo terraces. Inca pass through the entrance gate and arrive at the archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo where height is 3,865 meters or 12,680 feet. We find a place to rest and eat our packed lunch while the guide begins to tell the story of this place that was a haven for the Inca when their enemies attacked Cusco. After lunch, we will have a full tour and free time to take pictures. When we are ready, we will start down an average of 1 hour and a half to the valley to the village of Lamay which is 2,990 meters or 9,800 feet. Our car will be waiting and we will go to Ollantaytambo where we can visit the main square. Dinner in a local restaurant before taking the train to Aguas Calientes where we will bring you to your hotel.

Day 2
Machu Picchu – Return to Cusco

After breakfast visit the Huchuyqosqo archaeological site, and then continue our journey of about 4 hours to Chinchero (archaeological site Inca), on the way visit the Piuray lagoon, also can see the Sacred Valley and the snow of Chicon and Veronica .

After the tour in Chinchero, we return to Cusco by bus, arriving at approximately 5:30 PM.
